HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 4535-1966RESOLUTION NO. 453§ CITY COUNCIL~ CITY OF SOUTH SAN FkiNCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A ~SOLUTION APPKOVING P~KNS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING THE WO~( AND CALLING BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION-SPRUCE AVE. AT HUNTINGTON AVE.-TANFORAN PARK RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that WHEREAS, plans and specifications providins for cer- tain improvement work have been submitted, which plans and specifications are ennitled: TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION - SPRUCE AVE. AT HUNTINGTON AVE. - TANFORAN PARK and, WF~P~EAS, the City Council desires no approve said plans and specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed proposals; NOW, THEt{EFORE~ IT iS HEiLEBY OKDERED that: !. The plans and specifications hereinbefore named and identified are hereby approved and the work therein provided is hereby authorized, and said plans and specifications are referred to and by this reference made a part hereof the same as if recited herein verbatim. 2. The CitE Clerk of said City is hereby directed to publish by two (z) cons=cutive insertion~ in th= Enter- prise-Journai~', a newspaper published and circulated in said City, a notice invitins sealed proposals or bids for said work in accordance with the plans and specifications herein- before named and identified and on file in the Office of the City Clerk, the first of which publication shall be at least ten (iO) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. A copy of said notice entitled "NoZice ~To Bidders" is attached hereto and referred to and by this reference made a part hereof as if sen forth verbatim.herein. Ail proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's or certified check, payable to the order of the City of South San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten per cenZ (iO~) of the bid figure, or by a. bond in said amount drawn in favor of said City and executed by a corporate surety~ Said check shall be forfeited by bidder, or said bond shall become payable to said City in case the low- est responsible bidder (or bidders) depositin~ the same does not, within' the time set forth in said plans and specifications, enter into a contract with said City, the faithful performance of which shall be guaranteed by an undertakin~ in the amount of one hundred per cent (1OO~) of the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a corporate surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which con- tract shall be accqmpanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred per cent (1OO~) of the amount of said bid, as required by the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of the State of California. In case of a forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any additional expense to which it may reasonably be put in connection with obtaining full and complete performance of the particular work of improvement with which this Notice to Bidders is ooncerned. 3. Bids will be received by the City of South San Francisco, California, at the Office of the City Manager of said City, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Franc£sco, California, at or before the hour of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday , the 3rd day of 19 66 November said time not being less than ten (lO) days from the first publication of notice, the bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared at said time and place and award will thereafter be made by the City Council of said City to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right of said City Council to reject any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved. Ahem ATTEST: ~i~' NOT ICE TO BI DDE RS NOTICE CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING OF MATERIALS FOR, AND THE PERFORMANCE OF, CERTAIN PUBLIC WORK AND IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, TO-WIT, TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION - SPRUCE AVENUE AT HUNTINGTON AVENUE - TANFORAN PARK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids for the furnishing of materials for, and the performance of, the public work herein- after described will be received by the City of South San Francisco, California, at the office of the City Manager of said city, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at or before the hour of 2 o'clock p. m., on .Thursday , the 3rd day of November 1966, said time being not less than ten (10) days from the first publication of this notice. Ail bids will be publicly open~d, examined and declared at said time and place. Award of contract will thereafter be made by the City Council of said city to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right of said City Council to re- ject'any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved. The work hereinbefore referred to consists of the following: Furnish labor and material for installing an underground traffic signal at Spruce and Huntington Avenues Said work shall include the £urnishing and supplying o£ all necessary labor and materials. It is requested that all bids be submitted on both a unit and group basis because said city reserves the right to make award contract on either a unit or group basis. All said work is to be done at the places and in the particular locations, and in accordance with the £orms, sizes, dimensions, and materials and~to the lines and grades, and in con£ormance to the pro- £iles, detailed drawings, and speci£ications therefor which have hereto£ore been approved and adopted by said City Council and which are presently on £ile in the o££ice of the City Clerk o~ said city. Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles, detailed drawings, and specifications for further particulars, copies of which may be procured from said City Clerk upon the making of a deposit of TEN DOLLARS ($10.00 ) per set, of which sum FIVE DOLLARS ($ 5.00 ) will be re£unded upon the return of said plans and specifications in good condition within SEVENTY-TWO ~2) HOURS a£ter the bid date. All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's, or certi£ied, check payable to the order of the City o£ South San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount drawn in favor of said City and executed by a corporate surety. Said check shall be for- feited by bidder, or said bond shall become payable to said City in case the lowest responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same does not, within the time set forth in said plans and specifications, enter into a contract with said City, the faithful performance o£ which shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the sum bid, said undertaking being that o£ a corporate surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which contract shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount~of said bid, as required by the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of the State o~ California.
