CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION PROPOSING CONSTRUCTION OF A
PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS AT JUNIPERO SERRA AND
CLAY AND OFFERING TO SHARE IN THE COST OF
SAID CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that
WHEREAS, the accident experience at Junipero Serra
and Clay intersection in the City of South San Francisco
demonstrates a need for the construction and installation
of a pedestrian overpass to provide a safe crossing for child-
ren and adults, and
WHEREAS, petitions have been received requesting the
construction and installation of an overpass, copies of
which petitions are attached hereto, and
W~EREAS, a conference was held on the 31st day of
October , 1966, in City Hall, South San Francisco,
conferees being City officials, State officials and inter-
ested citizens, for the purpose of formulating a proposal
for the construction and installation of an overpass which
would meet with the approval of the agencies concerne~ and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to support the pe-
titions and the proposals advanced at said conference;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that:
1. The City Council of the City of South San Fran-
cisco does hereby propose that the California Highway Com-
mission, State Division of Highways, Division ~4, Board of
Trustees of the South San Francisco Unified School District
and the City Council of the City of South San Francisco joint-
ly determine the method of fina~cing and installing a pedest-

rian overpass at Junipero Serra and Clay in the City of
South San Francisco.
2. The Council proposes that the determination to
construct and install and the construction and install-
ation of the overpass proceed as expeditiously as possible
in order that the intersection hazard may be eliminated,
thereby preventing any further loss of life.
3. The City Council does hereby offer to share in
the cost of the construction and installation of the over-
pass.
4. The City Council shall be immediately available
for conferences to consider and conclude any negotiations
necessary for the planning, financing and construction of
the overpass.
