Meeting will be held at: CH'Y IIALL CONFERENCE ROOM 4,00 GRAND AVI,,"NTTE Sol TH4 SAN HIANCISCO, CA TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 2015 3:30 P.M. 3:35 P.M Roll Call. Present: Councilmembers Gupta and Normandy, SSFUSD Board President Bush, and SSFUSD Board Member Ochsenhirt. Public Comments. None. Mini-Maker Faire Presentation (Rob Wood, Maker-Faire Enthusiast and Pradeep Gupta, Councilmernber), Rob Wood, Maker Faire Enthusiast, gave a brief presentation detailing the Maker's Faire concept and its creation of a space for innovation, education, and creativity in communities. Mr, Wood and Councilman Gupta discussed the logistics and potential benefits of having a small Maker's Faire in South San Francisco. 5. Sunshine Gardens Park Project (Mike Futrell, City Manager), City Manager Futrell introduced the item and invited South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Director Ranals to address the Committee. Director Ranals detailed the benefits of the proposed multi-use play area in sunshine Gardens Park. Parks Manager Haimovitch detailed the estimated cost differences between building a "Tot Lot" ($175,000) and a more expansive, age-inclusive facility ($650,000+). Trustees Bush and Ochsenhirt agreed that the City should move forward with this project and investigate funding sources, perhaps placing this project on a Wish List for future endeavors. City Manager Futrell reinforced the caveat that funding restrictions would deem this project exceedingly ambitious. Councilwoman Normandy suggested that pursuit of the "Tot Lot" might be most feasible. 6. Review Draft of Multi-Year Agreement to Provide Childcare (Mike Futrell, City Manager). This item necessitated review by the School Board and would be discussed at the next meeting. 7. Possible Development of School Surplus Property — Foxridge Site Only (Judy Bush, Board President and Mike Futrell, City Manager). City Manager Futrell advised that the Foxridge Site is best suited for a potential workforce housing development with the intention of improving employee recruitment and retention. He advised of the possibility of funding such a project by pursuing grants related to affordable housing for public employees such as teachers and firefighters. Trustee Ochsenshirt noted that staff should consider requirements such as density regulations that come along with developing such housing sites. Councilman Gupta replied that this could be an opportunity to use the Foxridge Site more efficiently. Councilwoman Normandy noted this type of housing is geared towards short term benefits enabling renters to save money to apply towards future home ownership. 8. Maintenance of the Orange Park Field (Judy Bush, Board President and Mike Futrell, City Manager). Trustee Bush reported that students have requested renovations to the baseball field at Orange Memorial Park. Parks and Recreation Director Ranals expressed interest in hearing students' opinions and recommendations. 9. Renovation of the Callero Baseball Field at Baden School (Mike Futrell, City Manager). Director Ranals stated that the Baden High School Baseball Field has been evaluated for improvement and renovations are estimated to cost approximately $720,000. Councilwoman Normandy requested that a crosswalk and speed reduction measures be taken near the school. 10. Adjournment Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:00 P.M.
