e~ light, er cause to be kindled ~y fire ~or c~ping p~peses,
for the combustion of ~y waste materials on ~y public street or
grounds within said city, ncr shall any p~sen within said City set
fi~e te er b~n a~ rags, paper, woed or rubbish er make any bon-
fire, or ma~tain ~y fire, upon ~ private ~o~ds, except in a
stove,~ furnace, fire place or fire box or on a hearth in some build-
i~ or in ~ incinerator or some receptacle designed for safe b~n-
i~ of such materials, without ~irst having obtained a pe~lt there-
for,
Section 2: ~y person violati~ a~ of the provisions of
this ordin~oe shall be ~ilty of a misdeme~or and, upon conviction
thereof, ~,~l be p~ished by a fine not exceeding ~ifty Doll,s
[$0.00), or by impriso~ent for a p~iod not exceeding thirty
d~s, or by both such fine and imprtso~ent.
Section S: This ordin~ce sh~l be published once in
'The ~terprise ~d The South S~ ~r~ciseo Journ~", a weekly news-
paper of gener~ circulation, published and ciro~ated in said Oity.
Section 4: Said City Council hereby determines ~d decl~es
that the ~oregolng ordinate is necessary ~or the i~ediate preserva-
tion of the public safety of said 0ity of South San Sranclsoo, because
d~ing the su~er mont~, fires have frequently oe~rred a~ will.
