AN ORDINANCE DECLARING A PRIMA
FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR MEMORIAL
DRIVE AND TENNIS DRIVE
· THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
'DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. DETERMINATION: The City Council has received
and considered reports and recommendations of the Chief of Police,
the assigned Traffic Engineer, and the Superintendent of Recrea-
tion & Parks, and as a result determines that a speed not exceed-
ing fifteen (15) miles per hour will facilitate the orderly move-
ment of vehicular traffic and be reasonable and safe upon the
streets designated as Memorial Drive and Tennis Drive.
SECTION II. PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT: The prima facie speed
limit for Memorial Drive and Tennis Drive is hereby determined
and declared to be fifteen (15) miles per hour.
SECTION III. SIGNS: The declared prima facte or maximum
speed limit set forth in Section II above shall be effective when
appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon the
streets designated as Memorial Drive and Tennis Drive.
SECTION IV. PENALTY FOR VIOLATION: Violation of this
ordinance is a misdemeanor. Any person violating this ordinance
shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) or by imprisonment for a period of not more than six
(6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION V. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance
shall be published once in the "Enterprise-Journal," a newspaper
of general Circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as
required by law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days
from and after its adoption°
